Hey gang I’m joining Buddy Foster in racing an upcoming a local 5K in our area. Its for a fund raiser for single mothers, all the proceeds go toward helping them find suitable housing that is safe and clean. Come on out and join us! Here’s the relevant information;

Brief Description:

Come join us at the New Bethany Baptist Church for the Inaugural Community Benefit 5K Run/Walk. The start/finish will be held at New Bethany Baptist Church and will be run on paved streets in and around the church. Proceeds from the race will go towards the Hope Housing INitiative, a community organization committed to helping single mothers locate and secure affordable and safe housing.

Additional Information

Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and Grand Masters Male/Female and top three Male/Female in age groups beginning 10 and under through 75 and over. Finish line management provided by Classic Race Services with complete results available online within 24 hours at www.runningintheusa.com, www.active.com, and www.coolrunning.com. Packet pickup and race day registration will begin at 7:00AM. This event is part of the 2008 Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Series.

Fees:

$15.00 by 8/30/08, $20.00 afterwards to race day.

What does it mean to see all of life as a mission for God?

Does God send us out alone to do his Kingdom work or has He Himself gone out before us and given us the perfect example of what “Living Sent” looks like?

And does God go with us as we live out his call to missions?

Is He able to give me the power to do mission and if so how does He do it?

Where do missions happen, in far away places only or can we speak of North America as a missions field?

If people don’t like me or think I’m weird because I talk about my faith does that mean I’m doing something wrong?

Does Christ incarnation have anything to teach me about how I’m to share my faith?

What is evangelism: is it just preaching or is it also acts of mercy and compassion?

Do I have a personal and a corporate call to follow in living out God’s mission everyday?

What does it mean to reach the dechurched, the unchurched, and nominal Christians with the gospel?

Courtney was serving the Lord during a large part of the summer in Sweden at a sports camp and as you can tell the kids she served are beautiful. Sowing eternal seeds in their lives.

Morganne served the Lord in Hungry and Serbia and did as well a sports camp for kids. Kaylynn Crites went to Bolivia on a missions trip but I don’t have pics from her yet.

And we as a whole youth group went to Goldrush and did some mery missions in the International Village part of the global city makeup of Atlanta.

Hey East Lanier youth its that time again, Gold Rush ‘08. Pack your I Pods and bibles because we’re heading down to Perimeter for GOLD RUSH ‘08 this coming Monday. Be at the church at 1:45pm on Monday to roll out. This years theme is “Greater Than” and its all about how our God is greater than anything we face in life.

Here’s what we’ll be doing each day we’re down there;

Monday - Arrive and move into our hotel homes for the week before heading out to the opening night worship.

Tuesday - Conference and small groups in the morning. In the afternoon we’ll be doing ministry probably in the “International Village” with young kids. Then in the evening we’ll head back for worship and celebration.

Wednesday - Conference and small groups in the morning. In the afternoon we’ll be doing ministry probably in the “International Village” with young kids. Then in the evening we’ll head back for worship and celebration.

Thursday - In the morning we’ll have the conference and small groups time and then Six Flags here we come! More worship and celebration in the evening.

Friday - heading home and arriving back at church around 10:30am.

Hey gang we had a great first turn out at the “God @ the Movies” night. Don’t forget we’ll be doing these every First Wednesday night of the summer at the really nice movie theater inside Sterling on the Lake’s community center.

Too often Christians and churches setup fences between themselves in the world because of fear or intimidation. Like Godawa says we all have the tendency to be either cultural glutton’s consuming popular culture as thought it was ‘only entertainment’ or cultural anorexics not consuming anything from popular culture as though everything made and created by non-Christians is sinful. Come on out as we both enjoy great movies and explore what’s in between cultural gluttony and cultural anorexia.

And don’t forget these nights were created so you could bring your non-Christian friends or dechurched friends out and let them get a taste of what our community is like.

Hey gang I found this video on youtube and it blew my mind. A lot of these statistics are pretty common and out there but when you see them all together at once the picture of how much the world has changed is pretty powerful.

What do you think about these changes? Do you feel like you’re prepared for this new world?
